FOR AL, NL & COLLEGIATE LEVELS

TYPICALLY FOR PLAYERS AGE 12U to 9U May 1, 2008 to April 30, 2012

Ridge Baseball Club (RBC)

Recreation League Information

Given the uncertainty of availability of indoor facilities over the winter months this year there may not be formal player evaluations in advance of league drafts and/or team selection.

Below is a summary of how RBC typically structures its Recreational Baseball Leagues and a brief description of the philosophy of each league. The final determination of the make-up of any league (including what age groups plays in it) is based on player registration and final consideration is provided once the registration period ends.  This may also include the elimination of a league resulting in combining or dividing age groups and creating fewer divisions to enhance player development.

AMERICAN LEAGUE (All 12-year-olds and some 11-year-olds)All 12-year-old players (May 1, 2008 to April 30, 2009) are automatically included in the AL division. 11-year-old players (May 1, 2009 to April 30, 2010) will be considered for inclusion in the highly competitive American League (AL). Selection for the AL will be done through an evaluation and drafting process, as such special requests, beyond the grouping of siblings, cannot be accommodated. The AL will be played on fields with 50' pitching distances and 70' base paths and involve leading and stealing. The league typically, but not always, plays Monday, Wednesday and Friday. For any special circumstances please contact the Player Agent at playeragent@ridgebaseballclub.com

NATIONAL LEAGUE (Some 11-year-olds, some 10-year-olds and possibly some 9-year-olds) The NL is a competitive league for players with a strong focus on teaching and reinforcing baseball rules and skills played on 46 ft pitching distance and 60  ft base paths. Some 11-year-old players (May 1, 2009 to April 30, 2010), some 10-year-old players (May 1, 2010 to April 30, 2011) and possibly some 9-year-old players (May 1, 2011 to April 30, 2012) will be considered for the National League (NL). Selection for the NL will be done through an evaluation and drafting process, as such special requests, beyond the grouping of siblings, cannot be accommodated.  The teams typically, but not always, play Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoon/evening. For any special circumstances please contact the Player Agent playeragent@ridgebaseballclub.com.

COLLEGIATE LEAGUE (Some 10-year-olds and some 9 year old (Coach/Kid/Coach Pitch) The Collegiate league is a semi-competitive league typically consisting of some 10-year-old players (May 1, 2010 to April 30, 2011), the 9-year-old players (May 1, 2011 to April 30, 2012), and possibly some 8-year-old players (May 1, 2012 to April 30, 2013).  This league introduces baseball strategy and skills in a fun team-oriented environment. The teams typically, but not always, play Monday, Wednesday and Saturday afternoon. This is the first league in RBC where the coaches are not on the field (except pitching) and the game of baseball is played mainly by the kids.  Pitching will be done by both coaches and kids. Selection for the Collegiate League will be done through an evaluation and drafting process, as such special requests, beyond the grouping of siblings, cannot be accommodated. The teams in the Collegiate League also participate in playoffs and Championship weekend, including the All-Star game and Skills Competition.  For any special circumstances please contact the Player Agent at playeragent@ridgebaseballclub.com
